Let's Talk About the Logitech K780 KeyboardPublished November 24, 2021 I think I finally found my perfect keyboard. It’s the Logitech K780. After many years and many keyboard purchases, I am satisfied and I think I can finally stop searching, testing, and buying keyboards (not to mention returning those that didn’t fit the bill). ![]() Here’s What I like about the Logitech K780
Nice but not NecessaryThe K780 has a cradle in which to rest devices. It doesn’t work for me because the Otterbox case for my iPhone makes it too bulky to fit in the slot. And, I wouldn’t think of inserting the iPad in the slot. Logitech K780 DownsideThe keyboard is large so portability is awkward. It’s 14.9” long by 6.2“ wide. I much prefer a keyboard about the size of the iPad to make travel easier. That’s why I ended up purchasing the Magic Keyboard. Although, at home, I still use the Logitech with the iPad. With the Magic Keyboard stand, I can sit the iPad on a tray table (better angle for my head and neck) and place the Logitech on my lap. A better ergonomic setup. Why Didn’t I Stop There?![]() Well, I didn’t stop there because I started writing this post a little over a year ago. Back then, prior to purchasing the Magic Keyboard, I wanted a smaller, more portable keyboard. Enter the Logitech K380 (Amazon affiliate link). Thinking the K380 was just a smaller version of the K780, I ordered it. It had all of the K780 features minus the side numbers pad so I ordered it. ![]() Expecting the same experience, I was sorely disappointed. So much so that after 15 minutes of working with it (and having more typos than I’ve ever had), I packed it up and shipped it back. It was loud, heavy and the tactile feel was off. The keys were hard plastic. I tried putting my silicone keyboard cover to improve the tactile feel, to no avail. It was nothing like the Logitech K780 so I was back at the drawing board. Fortunately, as I mentioned earlier, I bought the Magic Keyboard for the iPad and it has everything I want. I am putting my keyboard addiction to rest. The search is over.
